Bada bing, bada increase—Tony Soprano’s destiny has lastly been revealed.
After 14 years of hypothesis, The Sopranos‘ creator David Chase has formally confirmed, in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, that Tony did actually die on the finish of the sequence’ finale in 2007. Although the seven-time Emmy Award-winning author all the time envisioned killing off Tony, it didn’t go in accordance with his unique plan.
“The scene I had in my thoughts was not that scene. Nor did I consider slicing to black,” Chase defined of the famously divisive ending, which cuts to black so abruptly, some viewers on the time thought their cable had gone out. “I had a scene during which Tony comes again from a gathering in New York in his automobile. Originally of each present, he got here from New York into New Jersey, and the final scene may very well be him coming from New Jersey again into New York for a gathering at which he was going to be killed.”
